The Preservation of Place and Memory

If democracy is a shared voluntary pursuit of the common good, then what binds us together as a community is fundamental to the American way of life. One of the powerful ties that binds is history, particularly as it is reflected in the places we build and preserve.

Our guests this week help communities capture and preserve their histories. Donovan Rypkema is principal of Place Economics and one of the nation's best-known preservation real estate and economic development consultants. Robert Archibald is President and CEO of the Missouri Historical Society and author of The New Town Square.

We'll talk with Donovan Rypkema and Robert Archibald about the preservation of place and memory on Smart City.
